Car Problems

There are a number of car problems that can be tough to easily to diagnose. Sometimes, there is one problem that will cause several symptoms and other times several problems will manifest with one symptom. Below are listed common but difficult to diagnose car problems.

Why a Car May Break Down

  1. Battery Issues

A new, high-quality battery can be run down if it’s used while the engine is not left running. Make sure not to play the radio when the car is off to preserve your battery’s life. The chances of losing your car power is much greater with old, faulty batteries that have lost their usefulness. When you install a new battery, you can expect it to last about five years before the batteries need to be replaced.

  1. Fuel Problem

Fuel quality can be contaminated, and can cause your car engine to stall. Whenever you have the opportunity, buy your fuel from gas stations that you know and trust. Also, you need to make sure to use the correct fuel. Using the wrong gas can cause serious damage to your vehicles engine even if you can get your car to run.

  1. Old or Faulty Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are small but crucial parts that ignite the gasoline each time your engine fires. A failing set of spark plugs can:

  • Make your car difficult to start
  • Cause difficulty accelerating
  • Cause noticeable misfires

All this can happen before the automobile breaks down entirely. Take the time to ask your auto mechanic to check your spark plugs regularly, and be sure to replace the part after about 20,000–40,000 miles to prevent any fatal malfunctioning.

  1. Clutch Cable

As you drive your vehicle, pay attention to the clutch. If you notice any changes in the way it responds, such as:

  • Difficulty changing gears
  • Noises when you shift
  • Pedals that feels sticky or loose

If your car has any issues, you need to take your car to the auto mechanic to be checked out. A worn-out clutch cable on a car can snap. A broken clutch will leave you broken down, and  stranded on the side of the road.
